Too many shortcuts and/or widgets on cell phone home screen?

Does having too many widgets or short cuts on my cell phone home screen drain the battery? I have the HTC Inspire so I have 7 screens altogether. Does that worsen the matter? I have almost all screens with one widget on each of them.
