How to be Very Successful in High School?

Hello, So am starting the ninth grade this Fall. I am going to this school called Clements High School in this town called sugar land ,Texas. So this question is asking all the students who devote there lives to school to make Excellent grades and are very liked by teachers and such. The reason, see i have all ways been this lazy *** student who dint care about school and my grades were nothing but average and i always said to my self that one day ill change and become a Honor student, but it never happened and now i realize that i need something to fall back on because i realized that all the times i go hang out with my friends is not gonna do **** for me and that is why i ask for help on how to start? and what to do to keep myself in focus? matter fact i am going to redecorate my room and have a lot of things organized for high school and also build a small tiny bookshelf on the top of my closet to keep my books and i also took the time to make a desk out of an old granite top and a stand to carry my old keyboard. so yea please give me some advice to what it is i should do to keep this dream alive? also what you did to make good grades.
