Is the school giving my son to much medicine without notifying us?

My son has asthma. He has an inhaler at school. His inhaler is empty after only 6 months. They have only been in school for 120 - 130 days. Each inhaler has 120 puffs taking two at a time. That would be taking the in haler 60 times in 120 days. That says he has been in the office for medicine every other day. I know he doesn't have this much problems at home. He only takes it usually with a cold. My mom is over all the time also, and she said he goes months between needing it. Do you feel the school should have notified us.
