Novel Writing Help Please!?

I'm one of those people that loves to write, loves to read. But as much as I'd like to write an amazing story like the ones that I read, I just can't! I would really like to, but I don't know where to start. I just finished reading The Books of Bayern by Shannon Hale and I love those books! I want to write something amazing like that, but after reading them, all her ideas are stuck in my head. Other authors say that reading lots of books can help you to write your own but when I read other books, I can't think of anything of my own to write. HELP PLEASE!
